Background- A native to Florida, born and raised in Fort Lauderdale. He loves to help others through his calling as a physical therapist and does so with high integrity, morality, and ethics.
Education- Dr. Liu attended the University of Florida for undergraduate and professional graduate school, which ranks top 10 in the US in Doctor of Physical Therapy Programs. He is a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy. He received dual bachelor degrees in 2011 and a Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2018. During his doctoral coursework at UF, he was a teaching assistant to doctorate level students in functional anatomy and neuroanatomy courses. He also taught bootcamp fitness classes at the UF Southwest Recreation Center.
Work Experience- Dr. Liu is a professional sports physical therapist working with athletes in the NBA & NFL. He serves his professional sports clientele through holistic and meticulous skilled hands on body work, to optimize performance, speed up recovery, improve nutrition, and perform their best. Previously, he has worked at 2 different high level complexity VA Medical Centers in Florida and South Carolina. He has helped and served U.S. veterans for 5 wonderful years. Winston has worked with professional athletes, special forces personnel, marathon runners, CrossFit athletes, golfers, mixed martial artists, post-surgical patients, and others with orthopedic musculoskeletal pain. He's also helped many men and women (20-60 years old) get back to running after suffering knee pain, back into the gym after low back pain, and working comfortably again at a desk after having neck pain.

Research Experience- Specifically selected to be a research clinician a part of The Duke Clinical Research Institute in North Carolina, to help implement a research study for veterans with chronic low back pain that spanned across multiple states and multiple VA hospital sites in 2020/21. As a clinician in this study, he treated veterans face to face and through telehealth with chronic low back pain and worked directly with The Duke University research team. In addition, at the Tampa VA, he was a part of another research study which investigates the best treatment interventions for low back pain and received extensive trainings in pain neuroscience research from leading researchers from The University of Pittsburgh Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. This is the commitment Dr. Liu has to his patients, to always give the best treatment approaches to best serve his patients.
Specialization- Dr. Liu is a sports manual physical therapist (A PT who specializes in treating athletes via hands on manual therapy techniques) who specializes working with professional athletes and active adults to return to their sport/fitness/lifestyle activities. He is also a Board-Certified Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist. Dr. Liu has years of experience treating patients with orthopedic pains such as low back, neck, shoulder, elbow, knee, hand, & foot and ankle pain. He listens to you, your story, fears, aspirations and goals and makes it his mission to help you return to your fitness and lifestyle activities. Through his skilled hands-on treatment approaches, advanced certification in dry needling, extensive experience working with a wide-array of patients (professional athletes, former special forces, MMA fighters, and all the way to the first-time 5k runners), and meeting you where you are in your journey.
Certifications- A Board-Certified Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist from the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). Dr. Liu also earned an advanced Certification in Dry Needling from The American Academy of Manipulative Therapy (AAMT), is a certified functional mobility specialist, and has been trained by graduates from The AAMT Fellowship in Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy, accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association, during his Physical Therapy coursework at the University of Florida and as a Physical Therapist at the Columbia VA. Advanced training in soft tissue techniques for Adhesion Release Methods, advanced diplomas in soft tissue release, myofascial cupping, IASTM, and Medical & Wellness Dry Needling (in addition to another advanced certification).
